Excessive Sweating

Excess sweating of the armpits (hyperhidrosis) can be an embarrassing and disabling condition. It can happen at any time in your life and the cause may be unknown. However, there are a number of treatment options available that can produce excellent results, from creams, to botulinum & toxin, to surgery.

At GSN Aesthetics we will carry out a thorough medical assessment and discuss your symptoms and we may suggest underarm botulinum toxin injections. These are a licensed and highly successful treatment for excess sweating and results typically last up to six months.

This popular procedure is simple, highly effective and minimally invasive. It works by temporarily stopping the eccrine (sweat) glands from producing sweat and patients usually notice a significant improvement within two weeks of treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

We first carry out a thorough medical assessment to establish your suitability for this treatment. We will then inject tiny amounts of Botox® into the glands under the armpits. The needle used is very fine and most people experience only very mild transient discomfort. An anaesthetic cream can be applied prior to the treatment, if desired.
Following treatment you may return to normal activities immediately, although we advise no strenuous exercise and no perfumed body creams or deodorants for 24 hours.
The treatment is not a cure, but provides temporary and usually very effective relief for around six to nine months, sometimes longer.
